Makinde Moves to Industrialise Agriculture, Allocates Land to Cashew Dealers

The presentation ceremony took place at the office of the Commissioner for Investment, Trade, Cooperatives, and Industry, Hon. Adeniyi Adebisi, at the State Secretariat in Ibadan.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, and circulated to journalists in Ibadan.
Speaking during the event, Commissioner Adebisi said the exercise marked the conclusion of a long-standing land regularisation process between the government and the merchants.
He described the development as a significant milestone for economic growth in the state, stressing that peace and dialogue remain crucial tools for resolving disputes and driving development.
“Economic expansion is a top priority for this administration. However, such growth can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and cooperation,” Adebisi said.
He further revealed that, following extensive consultations with stakeholders, the government had approved a concessionary rate of ₦250 per square metre—down from the original ₦500—along with a two-year moratorium. Payment is to commence in May 2025 and continue until April 2035.
Adebisi assured the merchants that the allocation process was transparent and free of middlemen, praising them for their patience and cooperation throughout the negotiations.
Responding on behalf of the merchants, Mr. Jide Akalaifa and Mr. Jubril Arulogun expressed gratitude to the state government for its intervention and favourable terms.
They commended the Ministry’s openness and commitment to resolving their concerns, noting that the land allocation would create structured opportunities for local businesses to grow and contribute meaningfully to Oyo State’s internally generated revenue.
