A governorship hopeful under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Emmanuel Fayose, has launched a scathing attack on Governor Biodun Oyebanji, accusing him of poor governance and squandering public resources while seeking endorsements for a second term.

Fayose made the remarks on Saturday during his familiarisation tour of Ado and Irepodun/Ifelodun local government areas. He criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration, alleging that despite receiving significantly increased federal allocations, the state remains trapped in hunger, poverty, and stagnation.

“Ekiti people should keep asking Governor Oyebanji—what has he done with the state’s monthly allocations? This government has underperformed. The level of hardship is alarming. Hunger and poverty are widespread. What the state receives now from the Federal Government is nearly four times higher than what previous administrations got, yet there is nothing tangible to show for it,” Fayose said.

He lamented that almost three years into the administration, no major development projects had been commissioned, accusing Oyebanji of running a government that has failed to deliver.

Fayose dismissed the governor’s recent wave of endorsements as superficial and deceptive, aimed at misleading the electorate ahead of the 2026 election. “These endorsements are mere jamborees. They won’t save him from defeat,” he said confidently.

In response, the APC’s Publicity Secretary in Ekiti State, Segun Dipe, dismissed Fayose’s criticisms, branding him an attention seeker resorting to falsehoods as a campaign tactic.

“Fayose thrives on noise and baseless accusations. The people of Ekiti are not blind; they see and appreciate the good work Governor Oyebanji is doing. It’s too late to mislead them,” Dipe said.

He urged Fayose to tour the state and witness the progress firsthand. “If he still claims there’s nothing happening, then we can only say it’s unfortunate for someone blinded by his own bias,” Dipe added.
