Abdullahi Umar, a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kano State, has ridiculed the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu, following his recent threat to take legal action against the ADC and its newly formed opposition coalition.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Umar, who previously sought a House of Representatives seat for Tarauni Federal Constituency, labeled Kachikwu’s threats as “laughable” and dismissed him as an insignificant figure with no real stake in the party’s affairs.

Speaking to reporters in Kano on Friday, Umar pointed out that Kachikwu is neither part of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) nor the National Executive Committee (NEC), and thus lacks any authority to make binding decisions for the ADC.

He stated, “It is baffling and almost comical that a former presidential candidate with no real influence would claim to be a stakeholder. I ask, what stake does Mr. Kachikwu actually have? He is neither a member of the NWC nor the NEC.”

Umar further accused Kachikwu of opportunism, saying he never truly embraced the party’s vision or conducted a genuine campaign.

“He did not undertake serious nationwide consultations as a real candidate would. He was merely pretending, not a committed party member,” Umar added.

‘Kachikwu Is Just a Political Jobber’

The ADC leader asserted that Kachikwu lacks substantial political clout and is only attempting to destabilize the party on behalf of outside interests.

“He is a political jobber with no electoral significance. During the election, he clashed repeatedly with ADC leadership. He is simply not one of us,” Umar said.

He compared Kachikwu’s claims to “trying to lay claim to a mat without owning the land beneath it,” emphasizing the former candidate’s weak ties to the party.

Umar affirmed that the ADC remains focused on building a robust platform capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and offering Nigerians a genuine alternative.

“The APC is clearly unsettled. Nigerians have finally found in the ADC a platform to confront and replace a government that has caused so much suffering,” he declared.

He warned that Kachikwu’s attempts to cause division within the ADC would fail, stressing that the party would not allow itself to be undermined like the Labour Party or the Peoples Democratic Party.

“If Kachikwu believes he can act as a mole for the APC, he needs to reconsider. The ADC is here to stay as the true face of purposeful opposition,” Umar concluded.

He urged Nigerians to stay vigilant and reject “political jobbers” who seek to sabotage the nation’s democratic progress for selfish gains.

“We must reject those who side with oppressors and try to hijack parties for personal benefit. The ADC is committed to building the Nigeria of our dreams,” Umar affirmed.
