Political Earthquake: Tinubu Blasted, Wike and ADC Tear Into Each Other Ahead of 2027
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) clashed on Thursday after the party accused President Bola Tinubu of worsening the economic woes of Nigerians.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking during his monthly media chat in Abuja, Wike ridiculed the newly formed 2027 opposition coalition, asserting that only the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has the political structure to challenge Tinubu, dismissing the ADC as irrelevant in the minds of Nigerians.
Meanwhile, the PDP National Working Committee (NWC), through its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, clarified that the party has not adopted an official stance on the coalition.
In a separate development, Dumebi Kachikwu, the ADC’s 2023 presidential candidate, accused the faction of the party now led by former Senate President David Mark of plotting to pave the way for Atiku Abubakar to emerge as the party’s presidential flagbearer in 2027. Kachikwu vowed to take legal action to reclaim the party’s leadership.
Responding to Wike’s comments, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, claimed Wike is visibly rattled by the coalition’s momentum, which he said presents a real threat to the Tinubu administration.
According to Abdullahi, the coalition represents the aspirations of everyday Nigerians seeking change.
Just a day earlier, a group of influential politicians formally adopted the ADC as the opposition platform to challenge President Tinubu in 2027, citing his administration’s failure to improve living conditions.
The unveiling saw prominent figures such as Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, and others in attendance. Though many of them have not officially joined the ADC, they pledged their support for the new coalition under an interim leadership headed by David Mark as National Chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary, following the resignation of Ralph Nwosu and his executives.
Mocking the coalition during his chat, Wike criticised the opposition figures, accusing them of exploiting the frustrations of ordinary Nigerians for political gain.
