Walking Into APC’s Net’: Atiku’s Aide Accuses Tinubu of Masterminding PDP Downfall
Paul Ibe, spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has raised the alarm that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may be falling into a calculated trap orchestrated by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) under President Bola Tinubu.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Ibe criticised the PDP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) for affirming Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary, calling the move a “scam” that is bound to fail. His warning comes in the wake of the opposition coalition’s adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its official platform.
The NEC’s decision could spark mass defections from the PDP, particularly within Atiku’s camp and other aggrieved factions, as frustrations mount.
Speaking to Daily Post, Ibe questioned the legitimacy of a reconciliation process led by individuals he alleged are collaborating with the ruling APC.
“How can you claim to resolve a crisis within a major opposition party when those at the centre of the conflict are in league with the ruling party and also pretending to mediate?” Ibe queried. “It’s all scripted. These actors, who are colluding with the APC, cannot be the ones championing a solution—they’re actively working to destroy the party.”
He also condemned the alleged harassment and intimidation of Board of Trustees (BoT) members who were reportedly forced to relocate the NEC meeting due to security concerns.
“Why were PDP BoT members, who showed up for the meeting, being intimidated and harassed, prompting a change of venue? It reeks of external influence.”
Ibe cautioned that unless the party confronts these realities, it risks walking blindly into APC’s trap to dismantle the opposition.
“If we ask the right questions, the party will realise it’s being led into an ambush by Tinubu’s APC. Some of our own are playing along. Until there is genuine reform, all of this remains a farce.”
He further denounced what he described as an abuse of state power, accusing some PDP members of colluding with APC elements to deploy security forces in a bid to suppress NEC members.
“This is reminiscent of military-era tactics. What we’re witnessing is an attempt to force Nigeria into a one-party dictatorship,” Ibe warned.
