The Nigerian military has confirmed the arrest of a suspected terrorist logistics supplier in Borno State, following a successful operation by troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF), North-East, Operation Hadin Kai. Deployed to Sector 3 in Monguno, the troops intercepted a vehicle laden with supplies believed to be destined for insurgents operating in the region.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, said the suspect was apprehended with a variety of items, including 65 litres of petrol, four bags of rice, five bags of groundnuts, four bags of NPK fertiliser, yam tubers, seven motorcycle headlights, 10 solar lights, 2,000 empty cement bags, four solar panels, and a mobile phone—materials typically used to sustain terrorist camps.

In a related operation, troops of 2 Battalion, while on escort duty in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State, recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition after confronting armed men on motorcycles. Also, troops of 1 Brigade under Operation FASAN YAMA in Zamfara State neutralised a notorious terrorist kingpin identified as Mai Dada during a counterattack in Maru Local Government Area.

Elsewhere in Edo State, troops arrested a criminal suspect in Etsako Central LGA found with a pump-action gun and cutlasses.

Shinkafi Volunteer Forces Kill Danbokolo and 173 Fighters in Fierce Battle

In a major breakthrough for local security networks, the Shinkafi Volunteer Forces reportedly killed one of the most feared bandit kingpins in Nigeria’s northwest, Kachalla Yellow Danbokolo, along with 173 of his loyal fighters, in a bloody gun duel in Zamfara State.

Security sources confirmed Danbokolo’s death and said it sparked widespread celebration in Zamfara and neighbouring states, particularly in Kurya District of Shinkafi LGA, where he had long terrorised communities. Locals described Danbokolo as more dangerous than his cousin, Bello Turji, who often served as his mouthpiece.

“There’s jubilation here. Danbokolo was the executioner. Turji only issued the orders,” said one resident. “Now, more than 170 of his men are gone, and the rest are fleeing.”

Another resident added, “Turji’s loyalists are confused and afraid. Some are even begging for amnesty. This is the first time we believe the bandits are truly on the run.”

Sources noted that this was the first time such a coordinated strike had hit Turji’s main base, severely weakening the operational strength of the criminal syndicate in the region.

Benue Attack: Four Policemen Killed by Armed Herders in Fresh Outbreak of Violence

Despite President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to Benue State, renewed violence erupted on Sunday in Udei community, Guma LGA, where at least four mobile policemen were reportedly killed during an attack by armed herders.

According to local sources, the attack began around 11 a.m. in Asha, spreading to Ortese—a community that hosts thousands of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). The herders, who fired sporadically and chased residents from their farms, attempted to invade Daudu, but were repelled by a joint team of security forces and community youth.

Former acting Chairman of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board, Mr. Matthew Mnyan, confirmed the incident, stating:
“The attackers moved from Asha to Ortese and later towards Dudu. Soldiers deployed armoured vehicles and engaged the attackers for over an hour.”

The violence escalated around 2 p.m. with a coordinated assault on Udei, resulting in the deaths of four mobile police officers. “As I speak, the attackers have resurfaced in Ortese. There’s panic everywhere, including IDP camps. People are begging for more security,” Mnyan said.

Security officials confirmed that reinforcements had been mobilised, but the atmosphere remains tense and volatile across the affected communities.

According to the charge, the defendants allegedly conspired in 2025 to destabilise the Nigerian state and undermine the authority of the President.

It was further alleged that they planned actions intended to “levy war against the state to overawe the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” an offence punishable under the Criminal Code.

Gbajabiamila made the remark during a birthday celebration organised in honour of Abejide, according to reports.

The Chief of Staff also urged Abejide to disregard calls from APC members, including former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, who had reportedly encouraged him to defect to the ruling party.

“Don’t come to APC. Stay in ADC and scatter them. We like what you’re doing. Don’t mind former governor Yahaya Bello, who said you should join APC. No, no, no, stay in ADC and win your election. Also, bring Bala Gombe, and we’ll support him. Good luck in court,” he was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, fresh tension has emerged within the African Democratic Congress as factional leader Nafiu Bala accused former national chairman Ralph Nwosu of misrepresenting the purpose of a recent party event.

Bala, speaking in an interview on AIT on Monday, said he was invited to what he believed was a routine meeting to welcome new members but later discovered it was used to announce a new leadership structure led by David Mark.

He explained that he only realised the full agenda after proceedings had begun, adding that the event also featured Nwosu stepping down while unveiling new party executives.

According to him, the development has deepened existing internal disputes within the party, especially with the appointment of David Mark and others into key leadership positions during the gathering.
