According to the Ministry, the initiative is designed to strengthen national cooperation and enhance the development of Nigeria’s aerospace workforce.

The agreement was sealed during a courtesy visit by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, to the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters. This was confirmed in a statement released on Monday and signed by Odutayo Oluseyi, Head of Press and Public Affairs at the Ministry.

During the visit, Dr. Kana commended the NAF for its professionalism and stressed the importance of deepening collaboration to ensure the airshow’s success. He noted that global airshows usually integrate both civilian and military aviation components, and called on the Chief of Air Staff to tap into NAF’s operational expertise and platforms.

Dr. Kana outlined expectations for the Air Force, including an aerial display to showcase Nigeria’s airpower, and a ceremonial parade for the President and visiting dignitaries. He also extended an invitation to the Chief of Air Staff for a forthcoming diplomatic meeting with ambassadors in Nigeria, coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He further noted that engagements with foreign airline operators and other stakeholders had already secured widespread support for the event.

The newly inaugurated committee will also be responsible for selecting a suitable venue and coordinating with critical stakeholders to deliver a successful airshow.

The Nigeria International Airshow is expected to draw leading civil and military aviation companies from around the world, serving as a hub for business deals while promoting Nigeria’s economy, culture, and tourism.

Responding to the collaboration, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, the Chief of Air Staff, expressed NAF’s full commitment and readiness to support the project. He described the airshow as a national initiative that will boost Nigeria’s reputation and economic potential. Air Marshal Abubakar pledged to mobilise all necessary resources, assuring the Ministry of NAF’s complete cooperation.

He said, “Let the Committee proceed to determine the venue and other logistics. We have capable personnel ready to partner with the Ministry, and we’ll do everything necessary to ensure this event succeeds.”

ADC Cracks Down: Oyegun, Osunbor, Others Suspended Over Alleged Anti-Party Moves.

A fresh leadership crisis has erupted within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Edo State, as a faction of the party announced the suspension of two former governors, two ex-senators and several other members over alleged misconduct.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The decision was announced on April 15, 2026, after a meeting of the faction’s State Executive Committee.

Among those suspended are former governors John Odigie-Oyegun and Osareimen Osunbor, as well as former senators Yisa Braimoh and Ehigie Uzamere.

Others affected include Nosa Ehima, former Oredo Local Government chairman; Sylvester Ewanehi, a former state commissioner; Tony Alile, the party’s newly elected Edo chairman; Jafaru Sumaila; Stella Alli; Igieogbe Asemota; and Christopher Ojeikere, the state publicity secretary.

Factional state chairman Kennedy Odion said the suspension followed allegations of insubordination, anti-party conduct and failure to comply with party directives.

He also accused the affected members of setting up parallel structures within the party and engaging in actions capable of causing division and confusion.

According to Odion, the State Executive Committee further found that some of the suspended members were involved in groups not recognised by the party’s constitution.

As part of the disciplinary action, all affected members have been barred from attending meetings, participating in party activities, making decisions on behalf of the ADC, or presenting themselves as party representatives.

The directive also instructed all party organs across Edo State to deny the suspended members recognition and access throughout the suspension period. Local government and ward executives were directed to ensure full compliance and report any breaches.

Odion said each affected member would receive a formal notice detailing the allegations and would be invited to appear before the State Disciplinary Committee to defend themselves, call witnesses and seek representation if necessary.

He added that the disciplinary process would follow the party’s constitutional procedures, while those suspended have the right to appeal within 14 days. Any appeal, he said, would be reviewed and decided within 21 days.

The faction said the suspension takes immediate effect and is binding on all party structures in the state.
