2025 Wealth Crisis Looms: Nigeria to Lose Hundreds of High-Net-Worth Citizens!
Nigeria may face another major wave of capital flight in 2025, with nearly 200 high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) — each holding over $1 million in liquid assets — projected to relocate abroad, potentially moving an estimated $1.5 billion out of the country.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
This projection comes from the newly released Henley Private Wealth Migration Report 2025, published by global investment migration firm Henley & Partners in collaboration with New World Wealth, a leading global wealth intelligence company.
According to the data obtained by Sunday PUNCH, Nigeria has already witnessed a 53% decline in its millionaire population over the past decade. The country is now on track to record another net loss of wealthy residents in 2025, albeit fewer than the 300 millionaires who exited in 2024.
Globally, the report estimates that 142,000 millionaires will migrate to new countries in 2025 — a movement described as a “leading indicator” of where the world’s rich see the greatest stability, opportunity, and future returns.
The United Kingdom is forecasted to suffer the largest outflow, with 16,500 millionaires expected to leave, potentially taking £66 billion (about $92 billion) in investable wealth with them. China follows with a projected 7,800 exits — its lowest HNWI outflow in years — while India is expected to lose 3,500 millionaires.
Conversely, the United Arab Emirates is set to be the top destination for migrating millionaires, attracting a record 9,800 new HNWIs, collectively worth around $63 billion. This trend is largely driven by the UAE’s zero income tax policy, investor-friendly residency laws, and Dubai’s appeal as a global luxury and investment hub.
The United States ranks second, expecting 7,500 new millionaire arrivals, largely via the EB-5 investor visa route. Switzerland, renowned for its political stability and favorable tax regimes, will likely attract 3,000 wealthy migrants.
In Southern Europe, countries like Italy (3,600), Portugal (1,400), and Greece (1,200) are projected to draw HNWIs thanks to flat-tax policies and revamped golden visa programmes.
Saudi Arabia, fueled by its ambitious Vision 2030 economic diversification plan, is the fastest-growing destination, with a projected 2,400 millionaire migrants — an eightfold increase from its 2024 figures. Canada is also expected to welcome 1,000 HNWIs.
In Africa, South Africa — the continent’s largest private wealth hub — will lose around 250 millionaires, though this marks its smallest outflow in five years. Meanwhile, Morocco and Mauritius are forecast to gain 100 HNWIs each, and Seychelles is set to attract 50.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
