“Defectors Won’t Derail Tinubu’s 2027 Bid – APC Stalwart Nkire Declares”
Chief Sam Nkire, a National Caucus member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has dismissed concerns that defectors from opposition parties could destabilize the ruling party, asserting that the APC was built on a solid, law-based foundation that can withstand internal disruptions.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Addressing reporters in Abuja, the elder statesman responded to rising apprehensions that an influx of politicians from rival parties might trigger conflict within the APC. He said the party’s original architects had deliberately anchored its structure on strong regulations and internal checks, with mechanisms to manage both agitators and peacemakers.
Nkire, who once served as National Chairman of the Progressive People’s Alliance (PPA), acknowledged that some new entrants may attempt to stir unrest. However, he insisted that as long as the APC leadership remains fair and firm—particularly on critical issues such as automatic tickets, candidates’ eligibility, and credible primaries—the chances of major discord will remain slim.
Commenting on President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election prospects, Chief Nkire expressed confidence that the opposition poses no formidable threat at this time.
“President Tinubu is no stranger to political battles. As a democrat, he played a key role in ending military rule and restoring parliamentary democracy in 1999. His political journey—from Governor of Lagos State to President of Nigeria—demonstrates resilience and deep experience,” Nkire said.
He emphasized that Tinubu’s eventual rise to the presidency was hard-earned, defeating three strong contenders in a fiercely contested primary, and entering office as one of the country’s most prepared leaders.
Chief Nkire urged defectors joining the APC to respect the party’s internal rules and work collectively with President Tinubu to strengthen the party against a fragmented opposition.
“Rather than causing tension, newcomers should contribute to unity. As the saying goes, united we stand, divided we fall,” he stated.
The Abia-born politician further praised the President’s bold initiatives to address economic, political, and security challenges since taking office. He called on Nigerians to rally behind the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said is focused on national recovery.
On persistent public concerns over nepotism, insecurity, hunger, government waste, and calls for administrative reform, Nkire gave assurances that positive results will become evident before the next general elections.
“Reviving an economy that has suffered for decades is a marathon, not a sprint. The more important question is whether we’re moving in the right direction—and I believe we are,” he concluded.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
