Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has pledged to deliver 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, describing it as a token of gratitude for the developmental progress achieved across the state under Tinubu’s leadership.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

He made the declaration at a political event held at Okaijesan Town Hall in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area, where thousands of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were formally received into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Okpebholo hailed the APC as an inclusive platform for all progress-minded citizens, stressing that Edo’s continued growth demands collective effort. “I applaud those who have made the bold move from PDP to join the APC. This wave of defection is a clear signal that the PDP has lost its footing in Esan Central, my home base. Today marks the political sunset for PDP in this area,” he said.

He explained that while previous efforts were made to woo some of the new members, their eventual defection was a result of the visible progress made under his administration. “Their alignment with the APC validates the direction and leadership we offer,” he added.

The governor also acknowledged prominent political returnees, including former Edo APC Chairman, Anselm Ojezua, calling his return a significant boost to the party’s growing strength. Other notable figures who joined the APC include members of the Edo State House of Assembly, former local government officials, councillors, and ex-PDP leaders.

“In 2027, Edo will show appreciation to President Tinubu by delivering 2.5 million votes. The people are showing, not just saying, where their support lies. APC is the engine of Edo’s development under the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Okpebholo declared.

He reaffirmed his dedication to public service and vowed not to betray the people’s trust. “I will not disappoint you. I will continue to work hard to ensure Edo experiences sustained and inclusive development,” he said.

Also speaking at the gathering, Major General Cecil Esekhaigbe (rtd.), leader of the APC in Edo Central Senatorial District, assured the newcomers that the party is open to all and committed to fairness. “This is a movement for peace and purpose. Join us, and let’s advance Edo together,” he urged.
