The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja. He reported that troops swiftly engaged the terrorists and successfully foiled their plans following an intense gun battle.

Kangye confirmed that the insurgents sustained heavy losses, with five AK-47 rifles, six magazines, and 13 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition recovered from the scene.

He added that one soldier was injured during the encounter and has since been evacuated to the 17 Brigade Medical Centre for medical attention.

“The area is now stable, and the troops remain highly motivated and combat-ready,” Kangye stated.
He praised the troops for their courage and professionalism, and assured Nigerians of the military’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation.
