After Explosive Court Ruling, Osun APC Leader Sounds Alarm — “Only Tinubu Can Save the Day!”
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has urged President Bola Tinubu to urgently intervene and halt alleged efforts by certain individuals to incite unrest following a recent Court of Appeal ruling in Akure regarding the October 22, 2022, local government elections in the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement released on Sunday and addressed to journalists in Osogbo, Oyintiloye — a former member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council — expressed concern over the misinterpretation of the appellate court’s ruling, which struck out the APC’s application to relist its appeal against a previous judgment that nullified the election.
He clarified that while the Court of Appeal dismissed the relisting request, it did not overturn the February 10 judgment that reinstated APC-elected local government chairmen and councillors. Oyintiloye warned that the alleged misrepresentation of the court’s decision by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the state government could spark serious unrest across Osun’s 30 local government areas.
“We do not want to see any bloodshed in Osun. That is why I’m calling on President Tinubu to intervene promptly and help prevent any loss of lives,” he said.
He raised the alarm over reported plans by PDP supporters to invade local government secretariats on Monday, describing such actions as a potential trigger for chaos.
“The state government and PDP should be cautioned against provoking a crisis through a distorted interpretation of the court’s verdict. The judgment on APC’s attempt to relist the appeal was straightforward, yet some are determined to exploit it for political unrest,” Oyintiloye said.
He further noted that the Osun State Government is already before the Supreme Court over its inability to access local government funds, urging restraint until the apex court delivers its final ruling.
“We appeal to Mr. President to protect lives and property in the state by ensuring law and order prevails,” he added.
