You Wrecked a Clean House!” – Labour Party Chieftain Blasts Peter Obi Over Party Turmoil

A former presidential aspirant and Labour Party (LP) chieftain, Faduri Oluwadare Joseph, has directly blamed Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, for the internal crisis plaguing the LP.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a strongly worded statement issued on Thursday, Faduri accused Obi of deflecting blame and refusing to take responsibility for the turmoil. He said Obi has consistently pointed fingers at everyone—from President Bola Tinubu to party leaders and external forces—without acknowledging his own role in the party’s decline.

Faduri referenced Obi’s history with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), noting that despite benefiting from the party’s platform, Obi abandoned it instead of building it into a national force.

“Peter Obi is the root cause of the Labour Party’s current crisis,” Faduri stated. “All the questionable decisions made within the party were aimed at serving his political interests.”

He continued:

“It’s deeply disappointing to watch someone who claims to champion competence and productivity become a symbol of division and dysfunction. I’ve seen videos where Obi blames the president and others for the LP’s troubles—but he never looks in the mirror. It’s a classic blame game.”

Faduri argued that the Labour Party was stable before Obi joined in 2022, but internal strife escalated dramatically after his arrival.

“When Obi came in, the party was united. Now it’s fractured. That disunity contributed significantly to our loss in the 2023 elections. A house divided cannot stand,” he said.

He further questioned Obi’s capacity to lead Nigeria if he struggles to manage a single political party:

“If Peter Obi cannot resolve a party-level crisis, how can he govern a complex country like Nigeria with diverse challenges?”

Faduri also drew comparisons between Obi and other political figures, stating:

“Obi didn’t build APGA—he left it when he should have transformed it into a national force. In contrast, Bola Ahmed Tinubu built a regional party into a ruling party. Obi, however, keeps jumping from one party to another in search of easy wins, not real leadership.”

He added that after the 2023 elections, instead of healing and rebuilding the LP, Obi distanced himself from the party’s leadership, particularly Julius Abure—whom he had relied on during the campaign.

“Now that the party is in disarray, Obi is blaming everyone but himself. He walked into a clean house and left it in chaos,” Faduri said.

He concluded:

“Let me be clear—I’m not defending Julius Abure. But the controversial deals that are now being exposed were made to benefit Obi. Real leadership means taking responsibility, not shifting blame when things go wrong.”

Pantami, who defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in May, was absent from the list published by INEC on Saturday.

In a statement shared on his social media platforms, the former minister’s camp described the development as a temporary electoral setback, assuring supporters that efforts were being made to resolve the issue.

The statement, signed by Professor Suleiman Mohammed Gombe, acknowledged the concerns raised by PDP members and supporters of the Pantamiyya Movement both within and outside Gombe State.

According to the statement, Pantami’s legal and liaison teams are engaging relevant PDP organs and INEC to secure compliance with a court order and address the omission within the period allowed by law.

The camp urged supporters to remain optimistic, stressing that the publication of the final list did not bring the matter to a conclusion.

“We are aware of the people working behind the scenes to frustrate good and responsible leadership in Gombe State,” the statement said.

Expressing confidence that the issue would be resolved, the camp encouraged supporters to sustain their mobilisation efforts and remain committed to the movement’s goal of serving humanity.

It also reaffirmed the unity between the PDP and the Pantamiyya Movement, stating that both remained committed to advancing the political aspirations of their supporters in Gombe State.

“No distraction will derail our course, in sha Allah,” the statement added.
