It will be recalled that K1 De Ultimate lost his mother, Princess Halima Anifowoshe, in January 2025.

Speaking during a podcast promoting his latest album, “Ganusi The Album Fuji Classical,” the veteran musician revealed that his mother deeply influenced his music, which inspired him to dedicate the track “Mama” to her memory.

The 68-year-old singer shared that his mother not only taught him the fundamentals of music but also served as his composer during her lifetime.

He explained that his mother had dreams of becoming a musician in her youth but was held back by societal expectations tied to her royal heritage and gender.

In his words:

“The song ‘Mama’ is in honour of my mother, who taught me the rudiments of music and singing. As a young lady, she was a talented singer, but as a princess and a woman, she was denied the chance to showcase her musical skills. They expected her to focus on marriage instead.

“But God passed her musical gifts on to me. Many times, she acted as my composer. Her influence was instrumental in my musical development. I believe it’s only right to honour her with a special track.”
