The fixture date was reverted after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) rejected a proposed shift to Monday, June 2.

Initially, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had announced that the match would be held a day earlier, citing logistical concerns and a mutual agreement with the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT). However, CAF’s disapproval forced a return to the original schedule.

“The friendly against Cameroon will now be held on Tuesday, June 3 at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex, Abeokuta, following a late request from FECAFOOT,” the Super Falcons announced via their official X account on Sunday, May 31.

The match had already faced disruptions. It was originally planned as a two-legged affair, with the first leg scheduled for Saturday, May 31, at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne. That game was cancelled after the Cameroonian team arrived late on Friday night, making it impossible to meet recovery protocols or pre-match requirements.

With the initial leg scrapped, both teams sought to play the remaining fixture on June 2. However, CAF maintained its stance on adhering to the previously approved date of June 3.

The Cameroonian squad has since settled in Ijebu Ode and is currently training ahead of Tuesday’s encounter in nearby Abeokuta.

This match will be the Super Falcons’ first outing since their narrow 1–0 defeat to France in a friendly last November. It also serves as part of their build-up to the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Although Cameroon did not qualify for the upcoming tournament, their rivalry with Nigeria remains fierce. The Lionesses have not scored against the Falcons in their last six meetings and last defeated them in 2012.

APC Fires Back at Adeleke Over ₦300bn LG Funds Allegation, Blames Governor for Salary Crisis....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to claims by Governor Ademola Adeleke that local government officials under the party diverted about ₦300 billion meant for workers’ salaries.

Adeleke had made the allegation during a stakeholders’ meeting, accusing APC-controlled council officials of hijacking funds and forcing the state government to shoulder salary payments for local government workers, teachers, health staff, and pensioners for over a year.

He insisted he would not abandon workers, blaming the situation for delays in executing some state projects.

But in a statement, APC’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, dismissed the claims, accusing the governor of misleading the public and shifting blame.

The party alleged that Adeleke was responsible for the salary issues, claiming he refused to release electronic payment vouchers and other financial documents needed for processing payments.

APC also said pension-related records, leave bonuses, cooperative deductions, and other financial data had not been made available despite repeated appeals, insisting that funds were properly accounted for and available for use if approved.

The party urged pensioners and workers to seek clarification, insisting the situation could be resolved if the governor allowed due process to take place.
