Police confirm Abuja estate kidnapping, rescue one victim
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed a kidnapping incident that occurred early Monday morning at Grow Homes Estate in Kuchibuyi village, Byazhin area of Abuja.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Earlier reports indicated that a group of unidentified gunmen stormed the estate, located in the Chikakore axis of Kubwa, and held residents hostage for nearly an hour.
In an official statement, the FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the command received a distress call around 1:00 a.m. from officers stationed outside the estate, reporting an ongoing attack by armed assailants.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the attackers breached the estate’s rear perimeter fence and abducted two individuals,” the statement read.
Police officers deployed to the scene engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle lasting about 40 minutes, resulting in the rescue of one victim, identified as Chinyere Joe. The gunmen, however, escaped with the second victim.
According to Adeh, a combined team comprising the police Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the military, and other security agencies has since launched a manhunt to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure the safe recovery of the remaining abductee.
