Governor Abdullahi Sule made the pledge on Sunday during an event marking the second anniversary of his second term, organized by the Abdullahi Sule Gidan-Gidan Support Group.
Highlighting recent milestones, he referenced the launch of a lithium processing plant by Avatar New Energy Materials Company Limited in the state. He emphasized that setting up an EV assembly factory aligns with the Federal Government’s agenda on clean energy and reducing fossil fuel dependence.
Governor Sule stated his administration is actively engaging investors and stakeholders to ensure the transition from lithium processing to battery production and eventual vehicle assembly takes place within the state. He expressed hope that even if the goal isn’t realized during his tenure, future leadership would carry it forward to completion.
He added, “This project, once achieved, will be a major step towards transforming Nasarawa into the top economic hub we envision.”
Sule commended President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, pledging to align the state’s development strategies accordingly. He also assured the public that his remaining time in office would deliver improved governance and economic outcomes.
Deputy Governor Dr Emmanuel Akabe echoed the significance of the lithium find, attributing its exploration and exposure to the governor’s proactive leadership. He stressed the strategic importance of lithium in powering electric vehicles and affirmed Nasarawa’s role as the country’s lithium capital.
Chairperson of the support group, Hussaina Sule, listed notable infrastructure projects completed by the administration, including flyovers and underpasses in Lafia and Akwanga, and the ongoing construction of a new state secretariat complex. The event was held in recognition of the governor’s achievements over the past two years.
