Captured Benue Kidnap Kingpin Vows to Reveal Network of Accomplices

A well-known kidnap kingpin in Benue State, identified as Ngbede Ekoja Echono, popularly called Ocheanpla, has reportedly threatened to expose a network of collaborators following his arrest by security forces in Apa Local Government Area.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Echono, who has been linked to a string of kidnappings and violent crimes across the communities of Odugbo, Opaha, and Obinda, made the declaration in a video obtained by DAILY POST. In the footage, he cautioned law enforcement officials against mistreating him, stressing that he was not operating alone.

“If you push me any further, I’ll reveal many others. I’m not the only one involved in kidnappings in the Obinda, Opaha, and Odugbo areas,” he stated.

Local residents alleged that Echono previously led armed groups into their communities and even stole weapons belonging to the Obinda community, which he later sold—without facing repercussions.

“He once took community-owned weapons and sold them off. Nothing was done about it,” a resident recounted.

Security authorities confirmed that investigations are actively ongoing and indicated that more arrests could follow based on information provided by the suspect.

The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to claims by Governor Ademola Adeleke that local government officials under the party diverted about ₦300 billion meant for workers’ salaries.

Adeleke had made the allegation during a stakeholders’ meeting, accusing APC-controlled council officials of hijacking funds and forcing the state government to shoulder salary payments for local government workers, teachers, health staff, and pensioners for over a year.

He insisted he would not abandon workers, blaming the situation for delays in executing some state projects.

The party alleged that Adeleke was responsible for the salary issues, claiming he refused to release electronic payment vouchers and other financial documents needed for processing payments.

APC also said pension-related records, leave bonuses, cooperative deductions, and other financial data had not been made available despite repeated appeals, insisting that funds were properly accounted for and available for use if approved.
