The operation was personally led by the Director of VIS, Mr. Akin-George Fashola, and focused particularly on identifying and removing unfit vehicles from the roads—especially commercial minibuses such as Danfo and Korope.
In a press release signed by Mrs. Bolanle Ogunlola, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation, Fashola emphasized that the campaign targets all types of vehicles, not just private ones. He urged all vehicle owners, particularly those using their vehicles for commercial purposes, to ensure their roadworthiness before putting them into service.
“Before deploying your vehicle commercially, have it properly inspected at any of our annexe offices to ensure it meets the necessary safety standards,” Fashola advised.
He also reiterated the VIS’s ongoing commitment to sustained enforcement and public awareness, stating that a safe and efficient transportation system in Lagos remains a top priority.
