They also condemned the ongoing killings across the country, labeling them as genocidal. Labour leaders stressed that protecting citizens’ lives and property should be the government’s top priority.

On the proposed tax bills in the National Assembly, the Labour leaders called for the withdrawal of the bills, arguing that they were crafted without consulting the NLC and TUC. They criticized the bills for burdening workers while leaving wealthy individuals and corporations largely untouched.

Additionally, Labour demanded an immediate reduction in telecommunication tariffs, from the current 50 percent to 35 percent, and an urgent salary adjustment in line with the country’s economic realities. They also called for the timely payment of outstanding allowances, pensions, and gratuities, as well as the restoration of gratuity payments and an upward review of the retirement age. Furthermore, they requested an automatic adjustment of pensions to reflect inflationary trends.
