Lamido Cautions Defectors to APC: “You Are Signing Your Political Doom
Alhaji Sule Lamido, former Governor of Jigawa State and prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has issued a stern warning to politicians defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Lamido, speaking after his election as a National Delegate during the PDP Local Government Congress in Birnin Kudu, Jigawa State, expressed concern over what he described as the weakening of the PDP and the detrimental effects it could have on Nigeria’s democracy.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Lamido raised alarm over the mass defections from PDP, calling the situation “ominous” for the future of the country. He emphasized that the departure of key members from the opposition party, whether due to fear or coercion, was alarming and could undermine Nigeria’s democratic structure.
He noted, “In their wisdom, my people elected me as a delegate, not because I needed it, but because experience is essential during such trying times.”
The former governor also criticized the manipulation of national institutions such as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the police, and security agencies, claiming that the ruling APC was exploiting federal agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to intimidate and undermine the opposition. Lamido argued that this behavior was not only dangerous but also a threat to democracy itself.
“If the APC, as a political party, fights the PDP, that’s normal. But when the federal government, under APC control, uses national institutions against the opposition, that’s a dangerous path,” Lamido asserted. “It’s not just the APC members fighting us; it’s the government, and the President himself.”
In his address, Lamido stressed the importance of a strong and vibrant opposition to a thriving democracy. He warned that dismantling the PDP would lead Nigeria down a path of self-destruction.
Lamido concluded, “Those joining the APC out of fear will eventually regret it. It is a suicidal alliance. The damage done to the opposition will ultimately harm the nation.”
Finally, he urged disgruntled politicians to return to the PDP, positioning it as the country’s most organized, people-driven political platform.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
