Speaking to reporters on Saturday in Abuja after a strategic meeting with political stakeholders from Delta State, Uzodinma noted that the APC’s appeal is expanding rapidly across the country.

His comments follow the recent high-profile defection of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and several prominent figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, signaling a major political realignment ahead of the next election cycle.

Addressing this political shift, Uzodinma said, “The tide has turned, and more are joining us. The APC in Delta State is gaining formidable strength. At this pace, Delta is fast becoming a one-party state.”

As Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), Uzodinma stressed the importance of managing the influx of new members effectively. He emphasized that the APC would leverage its internal mechanisms to ensure smooth integration and preserve party cohesion.

“We must organize ourselves to manage this tremendous success. Through our party’s internal structures, we will welcome our new members and leaders, unite as a family, grow the party, and support the government in Delta to benefit our people and strengthen the APC,” he stated.

Uzodinma further described the recent defections as evidence of the APC’s growing national acceptance, adding, “We are pleased with the development, which serves as a powerful testimony that the APC government in Nigeria is admired widely across the country.”

The Strategic Push for an Opposition Coalition

Despite possessing what he considers the superior candidate, Baba-Ahmed explained why the party is actively championing a broader political alliance:

  • Consensus Over Ego: The PRP chairman emphasized that the party’s push for a mega-coalition is driven by consensus and constitutional processes rather than forcing Duke’s candidacy through on profile strength alone.

  • Defeating Fault Lines: Framing the 2027 election as a critical turning point for the nation, Baba-Ahmed noted that the stakes go far beyond individual party ambitions. The coalition aims to unite likeminded opposition forces to rescue Nigeria from its current trajectory and bridge its deep fault lines.
