PDP’s Dele Momodu Speaks Out on Insecurity and Economic Struggles Under Tinubu

Momodu did not shy away from addressing the growing insecurity in the country, which has persisted despite leadership changes. He noted that the crisis, which started during the Jonathan and Buhari administrations, has continued to worsen under President Tinubu. “Nothing has changed,” he stated, pointing out that the leadership of a former military general, President Buhari, failed to resolve the situation, and now, under Tinubu, the security landscape is even more precarious.
He highlighted the worsening Fulani herdsmen crisis as a failure of past leadership, particularly under Buhari, and criticized Tinubu for not making substantial progress in addressing these issues. “It’s getting worse,” he said, adding that in recent months, the government has struggled to regain control of the situation.
On President Tinubu’s campaign promises, Momodu was equally critical, noting that the grand pledges made during the election campaign have not materialized into any meaningful results. Momodu cited the immediate removal of the fuel subsidy as an example of Tinubu’s failure to consider the broader economic implications before acting, likening it to a doctor rushing into treatment without first diagnosing the patient.
“The biggest mistake was creating chaos right from day one,” Momodu said, explaining that Tinubu’s premature actions had led to widespread economic disruptions. He added that the economy, already struggling before Tinubu’s tenure, is now in such a dire state that “only a miracle can revive it.”
Momodu’s remarks underline his frustration with the current government’s inability to meet expectations, particularly regarding economic recovery and security stabilization. He ended by expressing his concern that, without immediate corrective action, the country’s trajectory could become even more troublesome.
