Nigeria Oil and Gas Integrity Forum Commends NUPRC, Komolafe for Advancing PIA Implementation
The Nigeria Oil and Gas Integrity Forum has praised the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) for its vital role in ensuring the effective implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), considered a game-changer for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement released on Saturday, the forum’s President, Vivian Okorafor, commended the NUPRC under the leadership of Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, stating that the real impact of the PIA was made possible through the Commission’s visionary and firm regulatory approach.
Okorafor emphasized that without the NUPRC’s proactive enforcement, Nigeria’s petroleum sector would still be mired in regulatory uncertainty and capital flight, but strong leadership has now restored both local and international investor confidence.
The forum also highlighted Komolafe’s achievement in transforming the regulatory environment into one that fosters growth, eliminating bureaucratic hurdles and creating transparency in licensing and bid processes, thereby making Nigeria’s oil sector globally competitive once again.
Further lauding the Commission’s efforts, Okorafor noted the promotion of indigenous participation in the upstream sector, stressing that supportive policies under NUPRC’s watch are empowering local operators and contributing to broader economic development.
She pointed to the digital innovations introduced by the Commission, which have significantly streamlined compliance procedures, enhanced transparency, and curbed corruption in the oil and gas industry.
Okorafor also remarked that Nigeria’s new fiscal terms, driven by the PIA and enforced by the NUPRC, have repositioned the country as a prime investment destination in Africa’s upstream oil market, reversing previous losses to nations like Angola and Ghana.
The forum called on President Bola Tinubu to continue safeguarding independent regulatory institutions like the NUPRC from political interference, stressing that strong institutions are critical to sustainable growth.
Concluding, Okorafor acknowledged that challenges remain but expressed optimism, saying Nigeria’s petroleum sector is now on a promising path to transparency, growth, and prosperity, thanks to the firm leadership demonstrated by the NUPRC.
The Nigeria Oil and Gas Integrity Forum reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring sectoral developments and supporting initiatives that promote accountability, investment, and equitable benefits from Nigeria’s energy resources.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
