In a significant gesture, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori announced automatic employment for the institution’s overall best graduate, Okwa Favour Oghenemine, a Mathematics major from the Faculty of Science, who earned a remarkable 4.95 CGPA.

Governor Oborevwori made the announcement during his address at DELSU’s 17th Convocation ceremony, emphasizing that the employment offer aligns with the university’s established tradition.

The breakdown of postgraduate awards included 154 Doctorate degrees, 438 Master’s degrees, and 238 Postgraduate Diplomas.

The governor commended the graduands for their academic achievements and good conduct, encouraging them to be exemplary ambassadors of the institution.

Additionally, Governor Oborevwori directed the revocation of the long-abandoned Senate Building project, which has remained incomplete for over 22 years. He instructed the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerowho Tonukari, to commence immediate revocation proceedings and reassign the project to a capable contractor to ensure timely completion.

The governor’s action was in response to a plea made by DELSU’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Asagba, who emphasized the urgent need to complete the abandoned structure.

Speaking earlier, Professor Asagba noted that the university has achieved full accreditation for all its academic programs. He also proudly announced that DELSU currently ranks 20th among more than 300 Nigerian universities and 3rd among state-owned universities nationwide.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, General Alexander Ogomudia (rtd.), also urged the state government to expedite completion of all pending and ongoing projects within the university, while encouraging the new graduates to uphold the institution’s reputation in their future pursuits.
