According to a report by Naija News, the commissioners stated that the reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration are already yielding significant gains, with noticeable economic growth across various sectors.

The affirmation came during the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) Quarterly Strategy Meeting of APC-governed states’ Commissioners for Information, held between April 24 and 25, 2025, at the PGF Secretariat in Asokoro, Abuja.

In a communiqué released after the meeting, the commissioners highlighted the forum’s importance as a platform for peer review, experience sharing, innovation in communication strategies, and harmonized messaging to promote good governance, policy alignment, and democratic accountability across APC-led states.

The Information Commissioners lauded Nigerians for their resilience, patience, and steadfast support as the country begins to experience the benefits of bold economic reforms. They also reaffirmed their loyalty to the Progressive Governors and expressed commitment to advancing transparency, accountability, and performance-driven governance.

Additionally, the commissioners resolved to intensify efforts at the state level by adopting strategic communication, fostering inter-state collaborations, and strengthening grassroots engagement to build public trust, rekindle patriotic values, and promote responsible citizenship as a catalyst for national development.

They emphasized the need for continuous capacity building, robust inter-state cooperation, and the establishment of a quarterly APC States Communication Strategy Review Forum, to be coordinated by the PGF Secretariat.

Commissioners in attendance included Gbenga Omotoso (Lagos), Sagir Musa Ahmed (Jigawa), Kayode Akinmade (representing Ogun), Kingsley Femi Fanwo (Kogi), Erasmus Ekpang (Cross River), Taiwo Olatunbosun (Ekiti), Binta Mamman (Niger), Ibrahim Tanko (Nasarawa), Ibraheem Musa (Kaduna), Sambo Bello Danchadi (Sokoto), Paul Ohonbamu (Edo), and Yusuf Ali (Yobe), alongside Folorunso S. Aluko, Director-General of the Progressive Governors’ Forum.

In a statement shared on his verified Facebook page, Mutfwang said discussions focused on security, welfare, and the overall development of Plateau people, with special attention on the recent attacks in rural communities.

According to sources, participants reviewed the security situation and expressed deep concern over continued loss of lives and destruction of property.

News reports that the incident, which occurred on April 9, 2026, claimed the lives of the senior officer and several other soldiers.

A family source told Vanguard that the General was speaking with his identical twin brother, who resides in the United Kingdom, at the time of the attack.

According to the source, the twins maintained a daily routine of speaking around midnight, but the conversation took a sudden turn that night when unusual activity was noticed at the General’s end.

He said the line went dead abruptly after the General paused during the call, apparently due to the unfolding situation at the base.

The twin brother reportedly made repeated attempts to reconnect, sending messages and calling continuously, but received no response throughout the night.

“He kept trying until about 4 am, but there was no answer,” the source said.

The family later confirmed the tragedy after a senior military officer contacted them around 6:30 am, informing them that the base had come under attack and that the Brigade Commander was among those killed.

The relative described the incident as devastating, noting that communication had broken down during the assault.

The late General was later buried alongside other fallen soldiers in Maiduguri, Borno State.
