Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has officially signed the Kano State Infrastructure Management Agency Bill 2025 (1446 A.H) into law, following its passage by the State House of Assembly.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This legislative milestone establishes the Kano State Infrastructure Management Agency (KASIMA), which will oversee the control, placement, and installation of all utility infrastructure within public spaces across the state.

According to a statement released by Sunusi Dawakintofa, the governor’s spokesperson, the creation of KASIMA is a response to widespread concerns about the unregulated and unsafe placement of infrastructure such as electricity poles, underground cables, fibre optics, water and gas pipelines, and telecom masts.

Governor Yusuf emphasized that the agency’s establishment marks a crucial step toward restoring order, enhancing public safety, and ensuring better coordination of infrastructure projects throughout Kano.

“KASIMA will bring the long-anticipated sanity to the manner in which utilities are installed in the state,” he said. “The unchecked placement of masts, poles, and cables has jeopardized safety, degraded environmental standards, and disrupted urban planning.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that KASIMA will regulate and monitor all utility infrastructure within public domains, issuing permits, inspecting projects for safety compliance, and maintaining a centralized database of all installations.

Additionally, the agency will oversee radio frequency emissions from telecom towers, promote infrastructure sharing to avoid unnecessary duplications, and recommend the removal of illegal or substandard structures. It will also advise the government on matters of infrastructure planning and quality standards.

Governor Yusuf concluded by reaffirming his administration’s commitment to encouraging structured development and responsible investment: “We welcome growth and innovation, but it must align with planning, safety, and the greater public good.”
