A statement from Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah, the Media Assistant to the Minister of Regional Development, confirmed that the endorsement eliminates any internal challenges for the Senate ticket within the APC.

Notable APC stakeholders who attended the meeting included Engr. Abubakar Momoh, former Minister of Budget and National Planning Clement Agba, APC elder Chief Francis Alimikhena, political strategist Dr. Blessing Agbomhere, and several others. During the meeting, Engr. Momoh posed the crucial question regarding Oshiomhole’s Senate return, to which the response was an overwhelming, unanimous approval.

The party leaders declared that there would be “no vacancy” in the Edo North Senate seat, emphasizing the importance of legislative continuity and the continued influence of Edo North at the national level. Senator Oshiomhole, a former Edo State Governor and ex-National Chairman of the APC, has built a strong reputation for advocacy and leadership in the Senate.

Oshiomhole’s endorsement was reinforced by a statement from a senior APC chieftain, who described it as a reaffirmation of the trust placed in his leadership. In addition to the Senate discussion, the meeting also focused on recent criminal activities in Edo State. Governor Okpebholo assured that a comprehensive security plan involving enhanced surveillance and community policing would soon be implemented.

He expressed confidence that the party would secure a sweeping victory in the 2027 polls, describing its agenda as a plan to reset the country.

Makinde made the prediction after Mohammed was introduced at the gathering and described as an incoming senator.

Speaking at the event, the APM presidential candidate said, “Well, APM is going to win this election overwhelmingly because this is the reset agenda being put before Nigerians, so I dare to say that my national leader is the incoming Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

According to him, the next president must possess the stamina to work long hours and respond effectively to the country’s pressing problems.

He stated, “While I will not make age an issue in this campaign, I will make energy, having energy, being able to stay up late to deal with the challenges we face as a country.”

Makinde further challenged presidential candidates to demonstrate their physical fitness, urging voters to consider their capacity to handle the demands of the presidency.

“So please, when they bring their presidential candidates, let the candidates be able to jump, and if they can do that, vote for them,” he added.
