At a well-attended press briefing held at the Agege Local Government Secretariat, the youth group proudly announced they had raised ₦5 million to procure the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination form on Obasa’s behalf. The group emphasized that their support was based on merit, not familial ties or political favoritism.

Coordinator of the group, Ismaeel Garba, addressed the gathering, stressing the critical role of local governance in national development. He stated that effective grassroots administration is essential for Nigeria’s progress, and expressed the group’s determination to ensure the council’s leadership does not fall into unqualified hands.

Garba detailed the rigorous selection process undertaken by the group, noting that Abdul-Ganiyu emerged as the top choice due to his impressive academic and professional background. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance from prestigious UK institutions and is currently pursuing a PhD at Babcock University. His professional experience spans reputable firms such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Providus Bank, and Parallex Bank, where he served as Head of Performance Management and Strategy.

In addition to his corporate credentials, Obasa’s community engagement stood out. His football academy, VINOD, has already produced four promising athletes on the verge of signing professional contracts in Europe.

Garba acknowledged that Abdul-Ganiyu’s father holds a prominent political position but insisted that this should not disqualify him from contesting if he is the most competent candidate. He assured that the group would rally the broader Agege community to support his candidacy.

To further demonstrate their commitment, the group announced plans to sponsor APC nomination forms for seven councillorship aspirants across Agege wards who they believe are qualified to work alongside Obasa if elected.

Finally, the group commended the outgoing council chairman, Alhaji Ganiyu Egunjobi, for his impactful tenure, particularly in infrastructure and human capital development, urging him to sustain the progress made so far.
