CUPP Slams Okowa, Oborevwori for Dumping PDP: “They’ve Betrayed the People’s Mandate”

Published

The National Secretary of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), Peter Ameh, has condemned the growing trend of defections from opposition ranks to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), labeling it a national disgrace.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This reaction follows the recent switch of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, and other prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members to the APC.

In a conversation with Punch, Ameh criticized the defectors for abandoning the people’s trust, arguing that they now use political mandates as tools for negotiation—either to evade prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) or to secure political favors such as second-term tickets.

“It is a shameful era—an era for mandate manipulators and democratic oppressors,” Ameh stated. “People no longer see the need to defend the people’s mandate with integrity.”

He assured Nigerians that CUPP is actively building a strong alliance aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 elections. According to him, a people-driven consensus will emerge that will sweep away not just the ruling party, but also those he referred to as betrayers of public trust.

Ameh concluded with a warning: “The like minds will come together. There will be a coalition, and the people’s will shall prevail.
