Sadly, the discharge resulted in the tragic death of the young boy and left seven other individuals injured, some of whom are receiving treatment for their wounds. Senior officials, including the Commissioner of Police, the Garrison Commander of the 1 Division Nigerian Army, the State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Chairman of Kaduna North Local Government, visited the site for an on-the-ground assessment.

The police anti-bomb squad conducted an investigation and confirmed that the weapon involved was a dane gun—a single-shot, improvised firearm commonly used in various parts of West Africa. These firearms are known for their lack of safety features and reliability, often contributing to accidental injuries as well as being used in criminal activities.
