Real Madrid have reportedly prioritised the appointment of Bayer Leverkusen’s head coach, Xabi Alonso, as the replacement for Carlo Ancelotti.
According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, there are developing circumstances surrounding Ancelotti, who is reportedly being courted by the Brazilian national team to take over as their head coach.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This transition could happen before the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup later this year, heightening the urgency of Real Madrid’s decision-making process.

In a post shared on his account on Sunday, Romano wrote, “Xabi Alonso remains the top priority for Real Madrid as they consider replacing Ancelotti. The plan has been clear for months; Real is now awaiting formal steps to make the appointment.”

He also emphasized that Bayer Leverkusen is unlikely to impede Alonso’s potential move, as the club understands his ambition to join Real Madrid—a desire he expressed previously when he opted to stay with Leverkusen instead of accepting offers from Premier League clubs and Bayern Munich last year.

Romano added, “Brazil is insistent on having Carlo Ancelotti as their new head coach, and they aim to finalize this arrangement before the Club World Cup. Representatives from the Brazilian Football Confederation have been in Madrid for several days, engaging with Ancelotti’s camp and are scheduled to remain next week to expedite the process. Ancelotti’s departure from Real Madrid is now a tangible possibility.”

Note that both Xabi Alonso and Carlo Ancelotti find themselves in similar contractual situations, with their existing deals at their respective clubs set to expire in June 2026.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has congratulated Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi after he equalled Mohamed Salah’s record for the most Premier League appearances by an African player, with both stars having featured in 328 matches.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Iwobi achieved the milestone on Saturday, October 24, when Fulham secured a 1-0 victory over Coventry City. The 30-year-old Nigerian midfielder has now drawn level with Egyptian forward Salah on the list of African players with the most appearances in the English top flight.

Iwobi is now 25 appearances away from overtaking former Ivory Coast international Kolo Touré, who made 353 Premier League appearances during his career with several English clubs.

Reacting to the achievement, the NFF’s Acting General Secretary, Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, praised Iwobi and expressed optimism that he would soon set a new record for African players in the competition.

“The NFF celebrates Alex Iwobi for this new achievement, and we wish him even greater glory. We will be very happy to see him become the African with the most appearances in the Premier League in the near future,” Ikpeme said.

Iwobi also delivered a solid performance in Fulham’s victory over Coventry City, recording 60 touches and completing 51 passes at an accuracy rate of 86.3 per cent during his 73 minutes on the pitch.

The achievement further highlights the midfielder’s experience in football, both at club and international levels.

Iwobi reached another career milestone this summer when he earned his 100th cap for Nigeria during an international friendly against Portugal in Leiria.

The Fulham star has also helped the Super Eagles secure three medals at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), winning one silver and two bronze medals.

Man United Suffer Embarrassing Defeat To Bournemouth As Liverpool, Newcastle Turn On The Style.

AFC Bournemouth intensified Manchester United’s woes with a convincing 3-0 victory at Old Trafford on Sunday, October 25, 2026, while Liverpool and Newcastle United secured wins in their respective Premier League fixtures.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The defeat marked United’s third loss in four home matches and extended their winless streak across all competitions to eight games, piling further pressure on manager Michael Carrick.

Carrick opted to leave captain Bruno Fernandes on the bench following United’s midweek defeat to Como, hoping the change would spark a response from his team. However, the decision failed to yield the desired result as Bournemouth controlled much of the encounter.

Rayan gave the visitors the lead with a volley from Justin Kluivert’s free-kick, while Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic denied Bryan Mbeumo an opportunity to restore parity.

Bournemouth extended their advantage after a mistake by Leny Yoro allowed Adrien Truffert to set up Marcus Tavernier, who calmly converted the chance.

Carrick introduced Matheus Cunha at half-time in an attempt to turn the game around, but United struggled to create meaningful opportunities.

Evanilson completed the emphatic victory after capitalising on confusion in United’s defence. He rounded goalkeeper Senne Lammens before finishing from a tight angle to make it 3-0.

The victory marked Bournemouth’s fourth consecutive win in all competitions and extended their unbeaten run against Manchester United to seven meetings.

Meanwhile, Liverpool recorded their first Premier League home victory since April after defeating Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 at Anfield.

Florian Wirtz opened the scoring with an effort that took a deflection off Pascal Gross before Alexander Isak doubled Liverpool’s lead by converting a pass from Bradley Barcola.

Brighton, who had recorded five consecutive clean sheets across all competitions before the encounter, struggled to break through Liverpool’s defence in the second half.

The defeat was Brighton’s first Premier League match this season in which they failed to score, while Liverpool registered their sixth victory in seven matches.

Newcastle United also returned to winning ways with a 2-0 away victory over Crystal Palace, a result that lifted them to seventh place in the league standings.

William Osula broke the deadlock shortly after half-time, turning Jacob Murphy’s cross into the net before Harvey Barnes added the second with a first-time finish from a pass by Amar Dedic.

Joe Willock appeared to have extended Newcastle’s lead, but his goal was disallowed following a VAR review for offside.

Crystal Palace were unable to find a response and suffered their fifth league defeat of the season, leaving them just one point and one place above the relegation zone.

Newcastle, meanwhile, ended a disappointing run of three defeats in four Premier League matches.

Elsewhere, Hull City and Brentford shared the points after playing out a 1-1 draw at the MKM Stadium.

Oli McBurnie put Hull ahead from the penalty spot after a misplaced pass by Aaron Hickey allowed Tim Iroegbunam to win a penalty.

Brentford restored parity shortly after the hour mark when Dango Ouattara scored from close range following a miskick by Igor Thiago.

Both teams created additional scoring opportunities but failed to find a winner before the final whistle.

The draw extended Hull’s unbeaten home run in the league this season, while Brentford recorded their fifth stalemate in seven Premier League matches.
