AFC Bournemouth intensified Manchester United’s woes with a convincing 3-0 victory at Old Trafford on Sunday, October 25, 2026, while Liverpool and Newcastle United secured wins in their respective Premier League fixtures.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The defeat marked United’s third loss in four home matches and extended their winless streak across all competitions to eight games, piling further pressure on manager Michael Carrick.

Carrick opted to leave captain Bruno Fernandes on the bench following United’s midweek defeat to Como, hoping the change would spark a response from his team. However, the decision failed to yield the desired result as Bournemouth controlled much of the encounter.

Rayan gave the visitors the lead with a volley from Justin Kluivert’s free-kick, while Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic denied Bryan Mbeumo an opportunity to restore parity.

Bournemouth extended their advantage after a mistake by Leny Yoro allowed Adrien Truffert to set up Marcus Tavernier, who calmly converted the chance.

Carrick introduced Matheus Cunha at half-time in an attempt to turn the game around, but United struggled to create meaningful opportunities.

Evanilson completed the emphatic victory after capitalising on confusion in United’s defence. He rounded goalkeeper Senne Lammens before finishing from a tight angle to make it 3-0.

The victory marked Bournemouth’s fourth consecutive win in all competitions and extended their unbeaten run against Manchester United to seven meetings.

Meanwhile, Liverpool recorded their first Premier League home victory since April after defeating Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 at Anfield.

Florian Wirtz opened the scoring with an effort that took a deflection off Pascal Gross before Alexander Isak doubled Liverpool’s lead by converting a pass from Bradley Barcola.

Brighton, who had recorded five consecutive clean sheets across all competitions before the encounter, struggled to break through Liverpool’s defence in the second half.

The defeat was Brighton’s first Premier League match this season in which they failed to score, while Liverpool registered their sixth victory in seven matches.

Newcastle United also returned to winning ways with a 2-0 away victory over Crystal Palace, a result that lifted them to seventh place in the league standings.

William Osula broke the deadlock shortly after half-time, turning Jacob Murphy’s cross into the net before Harvey Barnes added the second with a first-time finish from a pass by Amar Dedic.

Joe Willock appeared to have extended Newcastle’s lead, but his goal was disallowed following a VAR review for offside.

Crystal Palace were unable to find a response and suffered their fifth league defeat of the season, leaving them just one point and one place above the relegation zone.

Newcastle, meanwhile, ended a disappointing run of three defeats in four Premier League matches.

Elsewhere, Hull City and Brentford shared the points after playing out a 1-1 draw at the MKM Stadium.

Oli McBurnie put Hull ahead from the penalty spot after a misplaced pass by Aaron Hickey allowed Tim Iroegbunam to win a penalty.

Brentford restored parity shortly after the hour mark when Dango Ouattara scored from close range following a miskick by Igor Thiago.

Both teams created additional scoring opportunities but failed to find a winner before the final whistle.

The draw extended Hull’s unbeaten home run in the league this season, while Brentford recorded their fifth stalemate in seven Premier League matches.

‘You’re Responsible For Nigerians’ Suffering’ – Tinubu Accuses Opposition Ahead Of 2027 Election.

Published

President Bola Tinubu has accused opposition politicians of exploiting hunger and poverty as campaign issues ahead of the 2027 general elections, claiming they contributed to the economic challenges his administration is working to address.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Tinubu made the remarks on Saturday, October 24, in Kaduna, during the launch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign, where he sought support for a second term in office.

“I hear my opponents talking about hunger, poverty. Who created it? They did. They created the hunger. They created the poverty. We are trying to eradicate it,” the President said.

He defended his administration’s economic reforms, insisting that the policies were designed to tackle inherited economic difficulties and establish a foundation for sustainable growth.

The President maintained that the APC offered Nigerians a path to economic recovery and prosperity, while accusing opposition politicians of criticising his government for political reasons.

“Our opponents are angry because they are failures. They have nothing to offer you, but we have prosperity, consistency, growth, recovery and opportunity,” he stated.

Tinubu also expressed appreciation to Kaduna residents for supporting him in the 2023 presidential election, urging them to give him another mandate to consolidate his administration’s reforms and development initiatives.

He promised to expand opportunities for young Nigerians and encouraged voters to evaluate his government’s achievements alongside its future plans.

On the removal of petrol subsidy, the President reiterated his opposition to reversing the policy, alleging that the former subsidy regime was associated with corruption, falsified invoices and fuel smuggling.

“Fuel subsidy is in our past. No more corruption. No more falsification of invoices, no more lies, no more smuggling,” he declared.

Tinubu argued that although the reforms had imposed economic difficulties on Nigerians, they would eventually lead to a stronger economy and improved living standards.

He commended APC governors for their development projects and regular payment of workers’ salaries, describing their performance as evidence of the party’s commitment to public welfare.

The President further urged eligible Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and vote for APC candidates in the presidential, governorship and legislative elections in 2027.

He also called on party supporters to scrutinise political messages and reject misinformation throughout the campaign period.

Earlier, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, presented party flags to governors and governorship candidates from the North-West region.

Yilwatda said the party’s leadership and grassroots structures across the region were mobilising to secure victory in the 2027 elections.

The rally attracted several prominent political figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, the Vice President’s wife, Nana Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas.

APC governors, members of the National Assembly, party leaders and supporters were also present at the event.

Sowore Sparks Political Controversy, Claims Peter Obi And NDC Are Not Against Tinubu

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has criticised his Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) counterpart, Peter Obi, describing him as an unprincipled politician who switches political parties ahead of elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Sowore also accused the NDC of exploiting politicians, alleging that the party generated ₦9 billion from the sale of nomination forms.

He claimed that Obi’s political manoeuvres were not intended to liberate Nigerians but instead served to divert public anger and shield the political establishment from accountability ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a post on X, Sowore said the party was run by opportunists who had allegedly made billions of naira from selling nomination forms while operating the organisation from their homes.

“The same opportunists and packaged political frauds who made ₦9 billion from selling nomination forms while running a political party from their living rooms.

“This is the problem with unprincipled politicians like Peter Obi, who rent political parties every election season, not to liberate Nigerians, but to…. divert public anger and evade the revolutionary consequences of their actions,” he wrote.

The AAC candidate further alleged that Obi and his political allies were not genuinely opposed to President Bola Tinubu’s administration. According to him, their approach was aimed at managing public opposition rather than mounting a decisive challenge to the government.

“They don’t oppose Tinubu; they simply don’t want anyone to oppose him strongly enough to bring his disastrous reign to an end. Their politics is about managing opposition, not confronting the system,” Sowore stated.

Sowore also referenced a remark attributed to Datti Baba-Ahmed, Obi’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election, in which Tinubu was reportedly described as their “favourite uncle”.

He further accused Obi’s supporters and other political figures of distracting Nigerians from what he considers the country’s fundamental social and political challenges.

Among those he mentioned were Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and Abia State Governor Alex Otti, whom he alleged had contributed to narratives that diverted attention from these issues.

“But we cannot be fooled,” Sowore declared, arguing that the politicians he criticised were delaying what he described as the liberation of Nigerians.
