Reps Postpone Crucial Session with Rivers Sole Administrator Ibas
The House of Representatives’ Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State has rescheduled its previously planned interactive session with the state’s Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
This was confirmed on Thursday in a press statement by the House spokesperson, Akin Rotimi. The session, initially set for 4:00 PM on April 17, 2025, was postponed following a formal request from Ibas.
The committee noted that a new date has not yet been finalized, but assured the public that the rescheduled date will be announced in due course.
“The Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight has received and acknowledged a formal request from the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), to reschedule the interactive session originally scheduled for April 17, 2025. The committee is working on determining a new date and will update the public once it is confirmed,” the statement read.
The session was intended as part of the committee’s ongoing oversight of developments in Rivers State, particularly following President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in the state amid ongoing political unrest.
President Tinubu had earlier suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly. In response, he appointed Ibas as the sole administrator to stabilize governance in the region.
The political crisis in Rivers State continues to draw national attention, with lawmakers and stakeholders keenly watching the next steps in the federal government’s intervention.
