Kano APC Opens Doors to Kwankwaso, Others—But Sets Strict Entry Conditions
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has declared its willingness to accept Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso—former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP)—and other potential defectors, but only under well-defined conditions.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, APC State Chairman Abdullahi Abbas addressed the growing speculation surrounding Kwankwaso’s alleged plan to return to the APC. Kwankwaso, a key figure in the recently expelled faction of the NNPP, has been a subject of political discourse regarding his next move.
Abbas revealed that the party is already preparing to accommodate new entrants and has directed ward chapters across the state to open registers for individuals seeking to defect, irrespective of their previous political affiliations. However, such movements must align with the party’s constitution and respect its structures.
“In line with our renewed hope agenda, we welcome defectors from all political backgrounds,” Abbas stated. “The APC remains a refuge for many, especially for those who have strained relations with other political blocs. That said, our party structure and the tenure of elected officials will remain intact.”
He emphasized that while the APC remains open to new members, the party will not be a sanctuary for individuals looking to avoid scrutiny from anti-corruption agencies or revive lost political influence.
“We are aware that some individuals, having exhausted their political capital, are now seeking to enter the APC to escape accountability,” Abbas cautioned. “Let it be clear: APC will not serve as a shield for those evading justice.”
Additionally, he warned against forming factional or cult-like groupings under the party’s umbrella, insisting that such behaviors will not be tolerated.
In a final note, Abbas urged prospective members who had previously made disparaging remarks about the party or its leaders—including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima—to issue public apologies. According to him, this gesture would demonstrate remorse and signal a willingness to build respectful future relations within the party.

VIOLENCE MUST END! ALGON Takes Radical Step To Restore Peace By Banning Transport Unions Across Osun!.
The Osun State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has suspended the operations of all transport unions within public motor parks across the state. This measure was taken in response to a series of violent clashes between rival groups, which the association deemed necessary to maintain public order and protect residents.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
-
Rationale for Suspension: The action follows repeated violent incidents involving factional disputes within the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), which resulted in the death of a toddler and the shooting of an elderly man.
-
Safety Concerns: ALGON Vice Chairman, Lanre Balogun, noted that public motor parks had increasingly become unsafe for commuters and operators, turning into hideouts for criminals.
-
Immediate Directive: Effective immediately, all transport unions—including motorcycle and tricycle operators—are prohibited from activities in public motor parks across the state’s 30 local government areas and the Ife East Area Office in Modakeke.
-
Security Measures: ALGON has requested that security agencies take control of these facilities to restore peace and track down individuals involved in the violence, specifically calling for the arrest of NURTW factional leader Nurudeen Alowonle.
-
Legal Basis: Balogun explained that the decision is supported by the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which grants local governments the authority to regulate motor parks and maintain public order. He emphasized that local government chairmen would not allow facilities under their control to become security threats, even if other authorities prioritize political considerations over safety.
The suspension will remain in effect until order is restored and public safety is ensured within the state’s transport sector.
