Osun Broadcaster Sanctioned Over Unauthorized Promotion of Collapsed CBEX Scheme

Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) has disciplined a radio presenter for airing a segment promoting the now-defunct CBEX Trading Exchange Global scheme without prior authorization.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to a statement released on Wednesday, OSBC clarified that the misleading content, which aired on Orisun FM in Ile-Ife, was broadcast without the knowledge or approval of the corporation’s editorial board.

Gbenga Faminu, the corporation’s Public Relations Officer, revealed that the controversial five-minute segment was detected and the presenter involved has been sanctioned. He further noted that an internal investigation confirmed the presenter acted independently, without direction from station management.

OSBC emphasized that it operates under stringent ethical and regulatory standards and that it remains a credible and responsible platform for public education and enlightenment across the South-West.

In response to the incident, the station said it has implemented measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future and urged the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent investment platforms.

The CBEX Trading Exchange Global had garnered attention via unverified media exposure before its abrupt collapse, which left many Nigerians defrauded. OSBC firmly stated that it has no affiliations with CBEX, nor did it benefit from or endorse the scheme.

Faminu reiterated the corporation’s commitment to transparency, professionalism, and public trust, adding that media organizations must remain alert to the ever-evolving tactics of financial scammers.

Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has opened investigations into the collapsed CBEX platform, noting that it had previously issued public advisories regarding its activities.

He also approved an amendment extending the lifespan of the 2025 budget from March 31 to June 30, 2026, to ensure completion of ongoing capital projects nationwide.

Under the 2026 fiscal plan, ₦4.799 trillion is set aside for statutory transfers, ₦15.8 trillion for debt servicing, ₦15.4 trillion for recurrent spending, while ₦32.2 trillion goes to capital projects—about half of the total budget.
