In a powerful statement, Uzoma emphasized that dismissing Okigwe’s legitimate demands—rooted in historical grievances of marginalization and underdevelopment—could have dire consequences for unity and stability in the state. He called for constructive engagement and a fair power-sharing structure to preserve peace across Imo.
Citing a recent declaration by Chief Tony Chukwu, who proposed that Owerri relinquish the state capital if it resists an Okigwe candidate in 2028, Uzoma described the comment as a pivotal moment in Imo’s political discourse. According to him, Chukwu’s remarks, though controversial, shine a light on the longstanding imbalance in development favouring Owerri due to its capital city status.
