Chidinma Ojukwu, the prime suspect in the murder of Michael Usifo Ataga, the CEO of Super TV, testified before a Lagos High Court on Thursday, April 17, 2025, recalling the distressing moment she discovered his body in a Lekki short-let apartment on June 15, 2021.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Ojukwu, a former 300-level Mass Communication student at the University of Lagos, narrated how she had stepped out to purchase food and juice. Upon her return, she knocked repeatedly on the door but received no response. When she pushed the door open, she was met with a gruesome scene—blood was on the floor, and Ataga’s lifeless body was found in a pool of blood.

“I dropped everything and rushed to him,” Ojukwu said, visibly emotional, noting that Ataga’s eyes were half-closed, and he had no pulse.

In her testimony, led by her lawyer, Mr. Onwuka Egwu, Ojukwu also detailed her relationship with Ataga, which began in November 2020. She described Ataga as supportive and kind, mentioning how he had helped her with her school fees and even financed her cosmetics business.

Ojukwu explained how, on June 13, 2021, Ataga invited her to spend time with him at a short-let apartment in Lekki, as his residence in Victoria Garden City (VGC) was undergoing renovations. They dined at a restaurant, bought wine, and spent time smoking cannabis before the tragic events unfolded.

On June 15, Ojukwu testified that Ataga had asked her to buy more cannabis, but when she returned to the apartment after some delays, she found him dead. In panic, Ojukwu admitted to cleaning up blood off herself, packing her belongings, including a brown envelope with Ataga’s personal documents and some jewelry, before leaving the apartment.

The court proceedings were adjourned until April 28, 2025, for the continuation of the trial.
