Rivers State Judiciary Denies Court Ruling on Emergency Rule
Rivers State High Court has publicly refuted claims circulating online regarding a court judgment linked to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, and the declaration of emergency rule in the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement released by Chief Registrar David Ihua Maduenyi, the judiciary categorically denied that Justice Boma Diepiri—or any other judge from the Rivers State High Court—delivered any ruling related to the purported removal of Governor Fubara or the legality of appointing a sole administrator.
The viral report falsely alleged that Governor Fubara secured a court victory against President Bola Tinubu and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and that the Federal High Court ordered the sole administrator to vacate the Government House.
However, Ihua-Maduenyi clarified that Justice Diepiri, who was wrongly credited with the ruling, is a judge of the Rivers State High Court, not the Federal High Court, and is currently on Easter vacation which began on April 14, 2025.
He condemned the misinformation as both misleading and ignorant, pointing out that the Federal and State High Courts are separate judicial bodies.
The Chief Registrar further emphasized that no judge from the Rivers State judiciary has issued any ruling regarding the emergency rule in the state. He voiced concern over the increasing trend of online platforms prioritizing sensationalism over factual reporting, urging the public to verify court-related stories through official channels before sharing them.
