The House of Representatives has summoned Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, to appear before its Ad-Hoc Committee on Thursday for an interactive session concerning the ongoing political crisis in the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to a statement released on Wednesday by the House Spokesman, Akin Rotimi, the session is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Room 414 in the New Building of the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.
This summons follows the inauguration of a 21-member Ad-Hoc Committee, led by House Leader Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, which was established on Tuesday by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen. The committee was formed in response to the National Assembly’s resolution endorsing President Bola Tinubu’s proclamation of a state of emergency in Rivers State.
Prof. Ihonvbere emphasized the importance of the session, stating, “This engagement is essential to determine the actual situation in Rivers State and to ensure that the House can carry out its oversight duties effectively and in the public interest.”
President Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State a few weeks ago due to a lingering political crisis. As part of the emergency measures, he suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and members of the state House of Assembly. Vice Admiral Ibas was subsequently appointed to administer the state.
