“To achieve sustainable food production, we must reimagine our farming methods. It is critical that we shift from dependence on rain-fed agriculture to resilient, water-efficient systems,” the governor said.
He further stressed the importance of developing inclusive irrigation infrastructure and adopting agricultural practices that are climate-smart. Zulum also underscored the need to empower research institutions, encourage innovation, and actively engage women and youth in agricultural development.
Drawing from his own leadership experience, Zulum highlighted how agriculture has served as a tool for rebuilding communities in conflict-affected areas. “In Borno State, we are laying the foundation for an agricultural transformation through sustainable irrigation projects,” he added.
