Barau Jibrin: Tinubu’s Reforms Are Steering Nigeria Toward Revival

Reflecting on the nearly two years since Tinubu assumed office, the lawmaker acknowledged that the challenges inherited by the administration—especially a weakened economy and neglected infrastructure—require time and resilience to overcome. He emphasized that while progress is gradual, the groundwork for lasting change is now in place.
Barau highlighted that decades of neglect in critical sectors such as power, agriculture, education, health, and infrastructure had left Nigeria in a fragile state. He noted that Tinubu’s leadership emerged during a turbulent global economic climate, worsened by international conflicts and inflation. Despite these setbacks, he credited the administration with bringing “a breath of fresh air” to all regions of the country.
The Deputy Senate President cited noticeable improvements in security, particularly the decline in terrorism and kidnappings in the North West and South East, attributing the gains to the efforts of Nigeria’s armed forces. He expressed confidence in their continued ability to restore peace in areas recently affected by violence, especially parts of Borno State.
He further commended the launch of the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ), which is set to modernize Nigeria’s agricultural value chain, enhance rural employment, and foster public-private partnerships. The first phase of SAPZ covers several states, including Kaduna, Kano, Oyo, Ogun, and the Federal Capital Territory, while Bauchi, Borno, and Gombe are listed for phase two.
In addition, Senator Barau praised the establishment of regional development commissions aimed at driving grassroots growth, as well as the renewed focus on the long-delayed Abuja–Kaduna–Kano highway project.
On the education front, Barau welcomed the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) initiative, which has already provided financial relief to numerous students and families across the nation. He also emphasized the administration’s efforts to stabilize the economy by clearing inherited debts, attracting foreign investments, and realigning fiscal policy.
Concluding his remarks, Senator Barau urged Nigerians to unite in support of President Tinubu’s vision, describing it as a crucial step toward achieving a prosperous and resilient Nigeria. He reaffirmed his belief that the President is leading the nation on the right path.
“President Tinubu has laid the foundation for Nigeria’s prosperity. Let us support him wholeheartedly—we have no other country but Nigeria,” he stated.
