Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has raised the possibility of being expelled from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing his history of speaking truth to those in power. During a Friday interview on Channels Television, Ndume revealed he has already served two prison terms for voicing uncomfortable truths and is prepared to face further consequences. He maintained that he would not be silenced, even if it costs him his political position.

Ndume lamented that genuine democrats have been sidelined in Nigeria’s political arena, which he claimed is now dominated by “kakistocrats and kleptocrats.” He warned that this shift is eroding the integrity of the country’s democratic institutions.

“If kleptocrats and kakistocrats dominate the political space, democracy is in danger. I’ve said this before and lost my job for it. Now, I may even be expelled from my party for repeating it,” he stated.

Commenting on the political future of President Bola Tinubu, Ndume expressed doubts about the President’s chances in the 2027 elections. He criticized Tinubu’s governance style and alleged exclusion of seasoned politicians from key decision-making roles.

According to Ndume, the hardship Nigerians are experiencing under Tinubu’s policies may jeopardize his re-election unless strategic adjustments are made.

“There’s still time to change course,” Ndume advised, suggesting that a more inclusive approach and urgent policy review could improve the administration’s prospects in 2027.
