Arewa Forum Slams Early Campaigns Amid Insecurity, Economic Woes

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has urged Nigerian politicians to halt premature campaigning for the 2027 elections and instead focus on addressing the country’s pressing challenges such as insecurity, poverty, and economic instability.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking during the forum’s 715th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at its national secretariat in Kaduna on Thursday, ACF chairman Chief Mamman Mike Osuman (SAN) condemned early electioneering, calling it insensitive in light of recent security crises and growing public frustration.

He cited recent violent incidents, including terror attacks in Bokkos (Plateau State), killings in Uromi (Edo State), and renewed Boko Haram activities in Borno, as signs of worsening insecurity. Osuman warned that such developments have paralyzed farming, closed schools, and disrupted local economies.

The ACF also sympathized with victims of recent flooding in Maiduguri and surrounding areas, calling for swift government intervention and infrastructure repair.

On political matters, Osuman criticized the surge in political campaigns and media chatter about 2027, urging leaders to shift focus back to national well-being. “The time for politics will come, but this is the time for leadership, responsibility, and results,” he said.

The forum also revisited the Ette boundary dispute between Kogi and Enugu States, vowing to protect the community’s rights and land. Osuman announced the creation of six new committees to strengthen ACF’s work on agriculture, education, and ethics, among others.

He concluded by urging forum members to embody the spirit of service and unity, referencing global icons like Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr. as examples of moral leadership.
