Wike Accused of Sabotaging PDP Over VP Snub – Tapgun Alleges
Former Plateau State Governor and member of the PDP Board of Trustees, Fidelis Tapgun, has raised serious concerns about the future of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of actively working to destabilize the party.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In an interview granted at his residence in Jos, Tapgun alleged that Wike, a former Governor of Rivers State, is bent on destroying the PDP following his failure to secure the party’s vice-presidential ticket in both the 2019 and 2023 general elections.
Tapgun claimed that Wike is leveraging his political influence and resources to manipulate high-ranking members of the PDP as part of a broader agenda to weaken the party from within. He pointed to what he described as Wike’s relentless pursuit of vengeance, stemming from the repeated rejection of his VP aspirations.
He also criticized the ongoing internal discord in the party, citing the prolonged tenure of acting National Chairman Umar Damagum and former National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, whose mandates he insisted had long expired. Tapgun argued that their continued stay in office violates the party’s constitution and has contributed significantly to the PDP’s internal instability.
Tapgun, a former minister and ambassador to Kenya, expressed doubt about the PDP’s readiness to present a formidable challenge to the ruling APC in the 2027 elections. According to him, unless the party reconciles its internal differences, it risks political irrelevance in the coming years.
“The PDP is unlikely to survive in its current form, let alone compete in 2027,” he warned, urging the party to shift its focus toward rebuilding for the 2031 elections. He stressed that President Tinubu’s administration is beginning to record economic improvements, making the task even harder for a divided opposition.
Furthermore, Tapgun lamented the ongoing power tussle within the PDP, particularly the battles over chairmanship and secretary positions. He accused Damagum and Anyanwu of overstaying their welcome, suggesting that their actions are part of a grand design to ensure the PDP’s eventual collapse.
Tapgun concluded by expressing hope that the party could eventually regroup and mount a meaningful comeback, but only if it undergoes sincere reform and strategic planning beyond short-term ambitions.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
