Baba-Ahmed, who had been appointed Special Adviser on Political Matters in the Office of Vice President Shettima in September 2023, resigned two weeks ago, citing personal reasons. However, the Kaduna Solidarity Vanguard questions the true motives behind his departure.
In a statement, the group expressed concerns about Baba-Ahmed’s political actions, suggesting that his initial support for the government was driven by personal gain rather than a genuine commitment to the North’s interests. They argue that his resignation is less of a principled stand and more of a calculated move for self-interest.
The Vanguard further contends that the resignation follows Baba-Ahmed’s disillusionment with the Vice President’s sidelining, as evidenced by the modest budget allocation of N36 billion to the office. The group stressed that the people of the North deserve leaders who truly advocate for their welfare, not those who exploit their positions for personal advantage.
