ACF Demands State of Emergency Over Plateau Killings, Urges Compensation for Victims

In a statement released by its National Publicity Secretary, Professor Tukur A. Muhammad-Baba, the ACF urged the Federal Government to immediately declare a state of emergency in regions vulnerable to frequent attacks and insecurity. The Forum emphasized the need for the development and implementation of robust early-warning and rapid-response systems to protect lives and property.
The ACF further recommended enhanced intelligence gathering, proper data processing, and prompt deployment of actionable intelligence to bring perpetrators to justice. The group insisted that the families of those killed should receive full compensation, and victims who sustained injuries must be given adequate relief.
Moreover, the ACF appealed to both the Federal and Plateau State governments to engage local leaders, religious figures, elders, and civil society groups in fostering dialogue and facilitating peaceful conflict resolution within communities.
The Forum also called on citizens to provide accurate information to security operatives regarding criminal and insurgent activities and tasked members of the National Assembly with ensuring that the Federal Government and security agencies are held accountable for their roles in addressing the security breakdown.
While reiterating its support for the Federal and Plateau State governments, as well as national security agencies, the ACF emphasized the urgency of concerted efforts to tackle the nation’s deepening insecurity and restore safety to the affected areas.
