UK Labour Party Suspends MP Dan Norris Following Rape And Sexual Offence Allegations

According to police reports, a man in his 60s was taken into custody on Friday on suspicion of child sexual offences, child abduction, and misconduct in public office. Authorities stated that most of the alleged incidents date back to the 2000s, though the investigation also includes an accusation of rape from the 2020s.
On Saturday evening, the Labour Party confirmed Norris’ suspension, stating:
“Dan Norris MP was immediately suspended by the Labour Party upon being notified of his arrest. As this is an active police investigation, we are unable to provide further comment at this time,” a party spokesperson said.
Dan Norris, 65, currently represents the North East Somerset and Hanham constituency in south-west England. He returned to Parliament in 2024 after defeating prominent Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg. Norris previously served as a Member of Parliament and held a junior ministerial role under former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
