Troops from Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), in collaboration with Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A, have successfully thwarted a series of attacks on communities within Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The affected communities, including Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna, Taddai, and Hurti, have recently faced coordinated assaults by armed groups, leading to significant violence and losses.

Major Samson Zhakom, the Media Information Officer for Operation SAFE HAVEN, confirmed the successful intervention, stating that on April 2, 2025, troops intercepted and repelled militia attacks in Bokkos LGA. During the confrontation, the attackers were overwhelmed, resulting in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and six motorcycles, while signs of blood along the escape route indicated potential casualties among the assailants.

The following day, April 3, 2025, troops intensified their efforts in the Hurti community, engaging the militias with heavy firepower, which forced them to retreat. In the aftermath, the troops secured the area and recovered a locally fabricated pistol, six rounds of 9mm ammunition, and four motorcycles. To maintain security, troops are continuing operations in the area to track down the fleeing attackers.

In a separate operation on the same day, troops from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gashish conducted offensive operations in Dome Hill, Rahul Mazat, and Anguwa Mamuda in Barkin Ladi LGA. Acting on credible intelligence, they raided a known criminal hideout and confiscated a fabricated revolver rifle, one round of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, and ₦89,800 in cash. However, the suspects escaped before the troops arrived.

Later that day, troops from Sector 2 OPSH, in conjunction with local vigilantes, conducted an operation targeting bandits along Kampani Zurak road in Wase LGA. During the encounter, one bandit was neutralized, and the troops recovered an AK-47 rifle magazine, a motorcycle, and other items.

Major Zhakom assured the public that Operation SAFE HAVEN remains committed to disrupting criminal activities and safeguarding the lives and property of law-abiding residents within the Joint Operations Area. Pursuit of the fleeing criminals is ongoing.
