During the Eid el-Fitr Sallah homage, known as “Gaisuwar Sallah,” at the Emir of Zazzau’s Palace in Zaria, Governor Sani expressed concern over complaints received by the state government regarding illegal land grabbing by village and ward heads.

Speaking through his representative, Alhaji Muktar Shehu, (Jarman Zazzau), Special Adviser on Traditional Affairs, the governor emphasized that all lands within the state are government property. He urged traditional leaders to adhere strictly to the proper procedures when acquiring land, stressing the importance of following due process for the sake of peace and stability.

Governor Sani also called on the traditional rulers to sustain the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in their communities and throughout the state. He further encouraged farmers to resume agricultural activities, highlighting the improved security situation in the region.

In his address, the Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, reiterated his earlier directive to district, village, and ward heads, instructing them to treat their subjects fairly and avoid collaboration with illegal miners. He cautioned against allowing mining activities without proper verification from relevant authorities, emphasizing that the emirate must be informed before any mining operations commence.

Bamalli also warned village heads against encroaching on lands belonging to the Ministry of Forestry, reminding them to limit their activities to properties owned by the emirate. Additionally, he advised all traditional title holders with dual appointments to relinquish one, in line with the state government’s directive.
